Broccoli Soup(Hot Or Cold) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 stalk celery, chopped
    1 carrot, chopped
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 lb. broccoli (3 stalks)
    3 c. chicken broth
    1 1/2 c. half and half
    salt and pepper
    1 1/2 c. defatted chicken stock
    1 c. currants
    1 tsp. ground cumin
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/8 tsp. ground red pepper
    1 c. couscous
    1 c. cooked peas
    1 c. chopped oranges
    4 dried figs, quartered
    2 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley
    1 Tbsp. minced fresh mint
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
Preparation
    In a 1-quart saucepan, combine 1 1/4 cups of the stock with the currants, cumin, turmeric and red pepper.
    Bring to a boil. Stir in the couscous.
    Remove from the heat.
    Cover the pan and let stand for 10 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed.
