Birch'S Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. round steak or stewing beef
    1 large can tomatoes
    1 can sliced water chestnuts
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
    3/4 c. red wine
    8 carrots
    4 stalks celery
    2 onions
    3 Tbsp. fine tapioca
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cut all ingredients into bite sized pieces.
    Put into covered pot, holding mushrooms aside until last 1/2 hour of covered cooking.
    Bake covered at 325\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours.
    Stir occasionally during cooking.
    Remove cover after 2 1/2 hours and continue cooking for 1/2 hour to brown.
    Serves 6 to 8.
