Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

3 c. unsweetened applesauce
4 tsp. soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar (1 white and 1 brown)
2 eggs
4 c. cake flour
1 tsp. each: cinnamon, cloves and salt
1 c. candied cherries
1 box raisins
1 c. nuts
1 can coconut (leave out if desired)

Preparation

Mix soda and applesauce; beat.
Mix sugar, shortening and eggs.
Add to applesauce mix.
Mix spices and flour; add to mixture.
Add nuts, coconut, cherries and raisins to mixture.
Put a little flour on fruits.
Add 1 cup orange juice for moisture. Bake about 2 1/2 hours at 250\u00b0 or 275\u00b0.
