Creamy Peanut Patty Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. white sugar
    1 c. white Karo
    1 lb. or 3 c. raw peanuts
    1 c. water
    1 stick oleo
    1/2 tsp. red food color
    1 tsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    In heavy 3-quart saucepan mix sugar, water and Karo together and bring to a boil.
    Add peanuts and food coloring.
    Cook, stirring often, until mixture forms a firm ball when a little is dropped into cold water.
    Remove from heat.
    Add oleo, salt and vanilla.
    Beat mixture until it loses its gloss and begins to hold shape when dropped from a spoon.
    (Do not overbeat as mixture sets rapidly.)
    Pour at once onto a large greased cookie sheet.
    Let cool and break into small pieces.
