Holiday Fruit Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water
    8 large cooking apples, peeled and quartered
    5 large ripe pears, cored and quartered
    2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
    1 tsp. grated orange rind
    1/3 c. fresh orange juice
Preparation
    Combine water, apples and pears in 5-quart kettle.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until fruit is soft.
    Stir in bananas.
    Put fruit through food mill or sieve; return to kettle and stir in remaining ingredients.
    Cook over medium heat until thick, about 1 hour, stirring frequently.
    Cool, then pour into jars and refrigerate.
    Makes 6 pints.
