7 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 head lettuce, shredded or slightly more
    3/4 c. coarsely chopped celery
    3/4 c. chopped red or green pepper
    3/4 c. chopped red onion
    1/2 pkg. frozen peas, cooked and drained
    1 c. low-fat mayonnaise
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    4 to 5 slices microwaved bacon, crumbled
Preparation
    Layer the ingredients in order listed:
    lettuce, celery, red or green pepper, red onion and peas.
    Spread mayonnaise on top of peas to seal.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Top with shredded cheese. Cover with plastic wrap.
    Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, top with freshly made bacon pieces.
