Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. orange peel
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp. milk
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar, orange peel and vanilla.
Add egg; beat until light and fluffy.
Stir in milk.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Blend in creamed mixture.
Divide dough in half.
Chill for 1 hour.
On lightly floured surface, roll out (I leave mine somewhat thicker).
Cut in shapes.
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes.
Add icing and colored sugar.
