Dark Fruit Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. soda
3 c. flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. raisins
1 c. currants
mixed fruit
1 small can cherries
Preparation

Cream shortening; add
sugar,
salt and eggs.
Dissolve soda in molasses.
Sift\tflour
and
spices.
Add
to
mixture alternately with milk.
Add fruit and nuts last.
(Rum makes a nice flavoring.) If batter is
not\tgood
and
stiff, add more flour.
Bake slowly at 300\u00b0 for
2\thours.\tCake
is better if made several weeks in advance and wrapped in foil to season.
