Very Good Easy Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers
    3 Tbsp. pickling spice
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. prepared horseradish
    1/2 tsp. powdered alum
    1 c. cider vinegar
    cold water
    1 c. sugar
Preparation
    Fill a quart jar with whole, medium size cucumbers.
    Add pickling spice (being sure not to add more than two of the red peppers from spice), salt, horseradish, alum and vinegar.
    Fill jar with cold water.
    Seal and shake.
    Set aside for at least 6 weeks.
    When ready to use, wash cucumbers.
    Discard all juice and spice.
    Cut in chunks and add 1 cup sugar.
    Stir occasionally until sugar is dissolved; then put in refrigerator.
    Will keep indefinitely.
