Chinese Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. round steak, cut in small pieces
    1 clove minced garlic
    3 Tbsp. soy sauce
    2 green peppers, cut in large pieces
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. brown sugar
    1 can Chinese vegetables
    2 fresh tomatoes, quartered, or 1 can tomatoes, drained
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Melt shortening in large skillet.
    Add meat, garlic, sugar and soy sauce.
    Cover and cook over high heat for 5 minutes.
    Add Chinese vegetables, peppers, tomatoes, salt and pepper; cook for 5 minutes more.
    Thicken with 2 tablespoons cornstarch in 1/4 cup cold water.
    Garnish with cut up green onions.
    Serve over fried rice.
    May also sprinkle with Chinese noodles.
