Split Pea And Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. McKay's chicken style seasoning
    1 1/2 c. dried split peas, rinsed and drained (about 10 oz.)
    1/2 c. barley
    2 large carrots, diced
    1/2 c. onion, chopped
    2 stalks celery, diced
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Put all ingredients in a 3 to 4-quart pot.
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, about 1 hour.
    When peas begin to fall apart and vegetables are tender, soup is done.
