Icicle Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. water
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. cucumbers, peeled and sliced (use large or yellow cucumbers)
    1 box alum
    2 qt. white vinegar
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Be sure water covers cucumbers. Let set 24 hours. Rinse real good, then cover with alum water (2 gallons water to 1 box alum). Let set 24 hours. Rinse slightly and drain. Make syrup (2 quarts white vinegar, 9 cups sugar, 2 tablespoons pickling spices tied in bag and boiled with pickles). Use 1 teaspoon turmeric. Heat; pour over cucumbers. Let set 24 hours, then bring all to boil. Cook for 5 minutes, then can.
