German Cole Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head cabbage (red or green), shredded
    1 onion, chopped
    2 c. celery, chopped
    1 c. vinegar
    3/4 c. oil
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
Preparation
    Arrange cabbage, onion and celery in layers.
    Pour 1 cup sugar over top; do not stir.
    Let stand while preparing dressing.
    Bring to just a boil the vinegar, salt, mustard seed, celery seed and salt.
    Pour over vegetable mixture; do not stir.
    Cover tightly and let mixture set overnight.
    Drain before serving.
    Keeps 2 to 3 weeks.
