Old Virginia Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. beef, cubed
    2 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 chopped onion
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1 c. cubed potatoes
    1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. paprika
    dash of allspice
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. lemon juice
    1 c. diced celery
    1/4 c. tomato juice
Preparation
    Brown meat in hot fat.
    Add hot water, onion, lemon juice, seasonings and tomato juice and simmer for 2 hours.
    Add water if needed.
    Add vegetables and cook until done.
