Favorite Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Combine buttermilk and soda; add to dry ingredients, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
    Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 to 12 times.
    Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2 3/4-inch biscuit cutter.
    Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
    Yields 10 biscuits.
