Ingredients

1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Cream butter, add sugar gradually.
Cream until fluffy, add unbeaten egg
and
vanilla,
beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients, blend into
cream mixture, chill dough.
Roll out on well floured board 1/8-inch thick.\tCut out.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Makes 3 to 4 dozen, depending on size.
