Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. raisins
1 level tsp. soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. butter or lard
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Combine raisins, soda and boiling water.
Let stand until cool.
Cream shortening and sugar; add beaten egg and vanilla. Combine two mixtures.
Bake in muffin pans or layer pan at 350\u00b0 until done.
