Oriental Style Green Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 to 2 lb. green beans
    5 strips bacon
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. onion powder
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    4 to 5 water chestnuts, sliced thin
Preparation
    String and snap beans into 1-inch lengths; wash.
    Cook bacon until crisp.
    Retain drippings.
    Cover beans with water.
    Add salt and onion powder with 4 tablespoons of bacon grease.
    Simmer 1 or 1 1/2 hours.
