Ingredients

2 Tbsp. each: cornstarch and flour
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 c. dark brown sugar
3 eggs, separated
1 c. each: evaporated milk and water
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Blend the cornstarch, flour and sugar in a heavy saucepan. Beat in the egg yolks.
Slowly beat in the milk and the water. Place over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils and is thick (about 2 minutes after it starts to boil).
Beat in the butter and vanilla and pour into a cooled prebaked pie shell.
Top with meringue.
