Old Fashioned Chicken Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 large fryer or hen
2 c. flour
1 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening
3 eggs, uncooked
1 pt. sweet milk
1/3 stick butter
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation

Boil the chicken.
Save the broth.
In a large deep pie pan, put cooked chicken and broth.
Make stiff dough for crust and dumplings.
Bring chicken and broth to boil.
Add dumplings. Reduce heat to low.
Let cook 10 minutes.
Break eggs into the hot mixture.
Add sweet milk; season to taste with pepper and salt. Make the crust.
Put the crust on top and bake in 400\u00b0 oven until brown.
Spread the butter on top of the crust when done.
