Fish And Chips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. fish fillets (cod or halibut)
    1 lb. potatoes
    1/4 c. flour (for batter)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg yolk
    2 Tbsp. water
    1 Tbsp. oil
    1 egg white, beaten
    1/4 c. flour (for dipping)
    oil or shortening for deep frying
Preparation
    Thaw fish, if frozen.
    Cut into pieces, 1 x 3-inch (or so). Cut potatoes into similar pieces (1 x 3-inch).
    Combine flour and salt.
    Add egg yolk, water and oil.
    Stir until smooth.
    Fold in egg white.
    Fry potatoes in deep fat at 375\u00b0 until golden brown. Drain and keep warm.
    Dip fish in 1/4 cup flour and then in batter.
    Fry until golden brown, at least 1 1/2 minutes per side.
