Layered Or "Forgotten" Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, torn in pieces
    1 bunch green onions, sliced
    1 jar whole mushrooms, drained
    1 pkg. frozen peas
    1 can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1 c. sour cream
    4 oz. Parmesan cheese
    1 can chow mein noodles
Preparation
    Start salad with all of the lettuce in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch dish.
    Make a layer of green onions, mushrooms, frozen peas and sliced water chestnuts.
    Mix sour cream and mayonnaise. Spread mixture completely over salad (this will keep vegetables crisp).
    Top with Parmesan cheese.
    Refrigerate up to 3 to 4 days, if needed.
    Just before serving, top with noodles and toss.
