Chili Beef Skillet - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    3/4 c. onion, chopped
    16 oz. can tomatoes, cut
    15 oz. can red kidney beans
    3/4 c. uncooked, packaged, precooked rice
    3 Tbsp. green pepper, chopped
    1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    3 oz. sharp, process American cheese, shredded (3/4 c.)
Preparation
    Brown meat and onion in electric skillet.
    Stir in tomatoes, kidney beans, rice, green pepper, chili powder, garlic salt, 3/4 cup water and 1/2 tsp. salt.
    Cover; reduce heat.
    Simmer 20 minutes; stir often.
    Add cheese.
    Cover until cheese is melted. Serves 6.
