Ingredients

1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 stick butter or margarine
4 to 6 c. fresh fruit (sweetened, plus juice; blackberries are good)
Preparation

Melt butter in a 9 x 13-inch oblong pan. Sift flour and baking powder.
Add sugar and milk.
Pour batter into pan on top of butter. Warm the fruit and juice. Spread over batter. Bake at 350\u00b0 until light brown (but not too brown), approximately 35 to 40 minutes on middle rack. Crust will come to the top. Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.
