Apple Roll Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    3 to 4 apples, shredded
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Make syrup of sugar, water, cinnamon and nutmeg.
    Add butter; heat until melted.
    Set aside.
    Mix flour, salt and baking powder; cut in shortening until crumbly.
    Add milk; stir until moistened. Roll dough 1/4-inch thick on lightly floured surface.
    Spread shredded apples on dough.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg mixture.
    Roll up like a jelly roll; cut into 1-inch slices.
    Place in greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Pour syrup over rolls. Syrup will be absorbed in baking.
    Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    Serve warm with cream.
