Onion Soup Gratene - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 long loaf French bread
1/4 c. butter
3 large onions, sliced (about 4 c.)
1 tsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. flour
2 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. red cooking wine
2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans condensed beef broth
1 (8 oz.) pkg. Swiss cheese slices
Preparation

Cut 4 (1-inch) slices French bread; may serve rest of bread. In saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in butter and sugar for 10 minutes.
Stir in flour; blend well.
Add water, wine and undiluted beef broth.
Heat to boiling, simmer, covered, 10 minutes.
Put in bowls.
Top with bread and cheese.
Bake in 425\u00b0 oven until cheese is melted.
Makes 4 servings.
