Herb Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. minced savory
    1/2 tsp. dill seed
    1/4 tsp. minced marjoram
    2 1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 crushed garlic clove
    2 qt. water
    4 c. chopped assorted vegetables
    2/3 c. uncooked long grain rice
    pepper
    salt
Preparation
    Mix herbs and add to tomatoes with sugar and garlic.
    Mix well and cover; let stand in refrigerator overnight.
    The next day, add water and vegetables.
    Bring all to a boil.
    Reduce heat and cover; simmer over very low heat for 3 hours.
    Add rice and cook for 20 more minutes.
    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    Makes 8 to 10 cups.
