Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1 c. chopped scallions
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 bag frozen green peas
    1 can thinly sliced water chestnuts
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1 c. sour cream
    1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
    1/2 c. crumbled bacon
Preparation
    Layer first 6 ingredients in a glass bowl.
    Mix mayonnaise and sour cream.
    Spread over layered salad.
    Sprinkle sugar over mayonnaise mixture.
    Refrigerate covered overnight.
    Before serving, sprinkle cheese and bacon on top.
    Serves 12.
