Mother'S Special Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1 1/4 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar*
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. sweet milk*
    2 eggs (unbeaten)
    1/3 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift cake flour, sugar, cocoa, soda, cream of tartar and salt together.
    Add sweet milk (*sour milk or buttermilk can be used and omit cream of tartar).
    Beat for 2 minutes at number 3 speed.
    Add eggs, milk and vanilla.
    Beat for 2 minutes at number 3 speed. Pour into 2 greased 8-inch layer pans and bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Cool.
    Frost with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.
