Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 Tbsp. cocoa
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
dash of salt
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs.
Make a paste of the cocoa and food coloring and add to mixture.
Slowly add vanilla, buttermilk, salt and flour.
Mix well.
Mix together soda and vinegar and gently stir in, mixing well.
Batter will be thick.
Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
