Hoe-Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. plus 1 tsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk (approximately)
    shortening
Preparation
    Combine meal, flour, salt and sugar.
    Add buttermilk to make batter right consistency to fry.
    Have griddle or skillet hot with plenty of shortening.
    Fry until golden brown on both sides as you would for pancakes.
    Serve hot with butter.
