Oatmeal Carameletas Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    50 (14 oz. pkg.) light caramels
    1/2 c. evaporated milk or creme (Carnation)
    2 c. flour
    2 c. quick-cooking oatmeal
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter, melted
    1 c. (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Melt caramels in evaporated milk in heavy saucepan.
    Cool slightly.
    Combine remaining ingredients, except chocolate chips and pecans, in large mixing bowl.
    Press half of the crumbs into the bottom of greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Remove from oven.
    Sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans.
    Spread carefully with caramels mixture.
    Sprinkle remaining crumbs.
    Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer until golden brown.
    Chill 1 to 2 hours, then cut into bars.
