Pickled Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 peck cabbage heads, about 6
1 large dishpan green tomatoes
12 large bell pepper
1 Tbsp ground cloves
1 Tbsp celery seed
2 lb. brown sugar
1 qt white vinegar
1/2 -1 Tbsp turmeric
1 Tbsp mustard seed
5 hot peppers, optional
2 C water
Preparation

Chop up cabbage.
(Can use food processor.)
Cook until tender. Add turmeric to desired color.
Grind up green tomatoes and pepper with sausage grinder, mix with cabbage, and squeeze out water.
In large stainless steel pot add vinegar, sugar & water.
Dissolve sugar.
Place spices in cheese cloth.
Secure tightly.
Place in pot.
Add cabbage mixture.
Cook about 30 minutes.
Pack in hot sterilized jars.
Seal.
This is very good as a side dish with hamburgers.
