Ingredients

1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
3 Tbsp. steak sauce
1 large loaf (15 oz.) Italian bread, cut in half lengthwise
1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) shredded mild Cheddar cheese
Preparation

In a medium skillet, brown the beef until crumbly.
Drain. Mix in onion, tomato paste and steak sauce.
Keep warm.
Place bread on a large cookie sheet.
Spread with margarine.
Toast under broiler until brown.
Spread with meat mixture.
Top with cheese.
Broil 4 to 6 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Serves 6 to 8.
