Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening (can use Crisco)
2 c. raisins
2 1/2 c. applesauce
3 c. flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cocoa
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. walnuts
Preparation

Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 13-inch glass baking dish. Cream together the sugar and shortening.
Boil together for 3 minutes the raisins and applesauce. Add this to the creamed mixture. Sift together all the dry ingredients and slowly add to the creamed mixture and then add the beaten eggs. Lastly blend in the walnuts. Bake in a slow oven at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean (do not overbake as cake will then be dry).
Cool on rack. Will keep for several weeks.
You may frost if you wish or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
