Butterscotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter, shortening or vegetable oil
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Heat shortening over low heat until melted; remove from heat.
    Mix in brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Spread in a greased pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inch.
    Bake 25 minutes.
    Cut into squares while warm.
    Rich and chewy.
