Apple Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 slightly beaten egg yolk
    1/2 c. milk
    5 c. peeled sliced apples
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 egg white, slightly beaten
    sugar icing
Preparation
    Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    Mix egg yolk with milk and stir into flour mixture.
    Pat half the dough in a 7 x 12-inch pan.
    Pour apples over dough.
    Mix 2 tablespoons of flour and 1 1/2 cups sugar.
    Sprinkle over apples.
    Dot with butter.
    Roll remaining dough on floured surface to fit pan.
    Place over apples.
    Brush with egg white and bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
    Frost with powdered sugar icing while warm.
