Thunder Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. cold water
    2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    3 eggs, separated
    1/3 c. pureed tomatoes
    1/2 c. dry cocoa
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.
    Add egg yolks and blend thoroughly.
    Beat whites until stiff, then fold in.
    Gradually add water and tomatoes.
    Sift dry ingredients together and blend with creamy mixture.
    Bake in two greased and floured round pans at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Frost with your favorite butter frosting and top with strawberries.
