Ingredients

1 1/2 c. chopped dates
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. bread crumbs
1 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation

Place dates in mixing bowl.
Add 1/2 cup boiling water, sugar and butter.
Dissolve baking soda in hot mixture.
Add remaining ingredients.
Pudding must be steamed in greased container for 2 hours.
Serve warm with hot sauce.
