Orange Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter or other shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs (beat yolks and whites separately)
4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 Tbsp. grated orange rind
1 pkg. chopped dates
1 c. pecans
Preparation

Cream butter; add sugar and cream well.
Add well beaten egg yolks.
Sift flour three times with baking powder, soda, salt and cream of tartar.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture.
Add orange rind, nuts and dates.
Last, fold in beaten egg whites.
Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 300\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
