Pickled Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. sliced squash
    2 c. sliced onions
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 c. diced green pepper
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 c. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Mix squash and onions together.
    Sprinkle with salt.
    Let stand 1 hour.
    In saucepan, add remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil; add squash and onions.
    Boil until it turns pink.
    Pour into hot jars and seal.
