Ingredients

1 qt. milk
4 oz. elbow macaroni
3 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. lemon rind
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. chopped dates
Preparation

Scald milk in heavy saucepan; do not boil.
Add macaroni; simmer, uncovered, stirring frequently until tender.
Beat eggs; add sugar and beat until thick and lemon colored.
Remove mixture from heat; stir in egg mixture and remaining ingredients.
Pour in lightly greased baking dish and bake in a 300\u00b0 oven for 55 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve warm or cold.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
