Texas Style Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. salad oil
    3 lb. beef stew meat
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    6 Tbsp. chili powder
    2 tsp. oregano
    2 tsp. ground cumin
    2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. red pepper sauce
    1 1/2 qt. water
    1/3 c. white cornmeal
    chopped onion (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oil in large kettle.
    Add beef and brown.
    Add garlic, chili powder, salt, oregano, cumin, pepper sauce and water; stir to mix well.
    Bring to boil; reduce heat and cover.
    Simmer 1 1/4 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Add cornmeal and mix well.
    Simmer uncovered 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
    Garnish with chopped onion, if desired.
    Serve with rice and beans on the side.
