Scalloped Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 slices bread, cut in half
    3/8 c. sugar or to taste
    2 Tbsp. butter
    black pepper
    3 c. thick part canned tomatoes
Preparation
    Put bread in bottom of a 6 1/2 x 10-inch dish.
    Cover with tomatoes. Sprinkle sugar on tomatoes. Dot with butter.
    Sprinkle black pepper over all. Bake in oven until brown at 500\u00b0.
