Crisp Pickle Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced, unpared cucumbers
    6 medium white onions, sliced
    2 green peppers, sliced
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. pickling salt
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 bag crushed ice
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, onions, green peppers and whole garlic cloves.
    Add salt and cover with crushed ice.
    Mix thoroughly. Let stand for 3 hours.
    Drain well.
    Remove garlic.
    Combine remaining ingredients.
    Pour over cucumber mixture.
    Bring to a boil.
    Fill hot jars to 1/2-inch from top and seal.
