Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening or 1/3 c. each of shortening and either butter or margarine
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, measured by scoop and level method
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces (1 c.)
    1/2 to 1 c. coarsely broken walnuts or pecans (optional)
Preparation
    Place racks at middle and top levels of oven.
    Preheat to 375\u00b0.
