Cherry Delight - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 egg whites
    2 c. sugar
    1 pkg. Waverly wafers
    1 c. pecans, chopped
    2 small pkg. or 1 large pkg. Dream Whip
    1 can cherry pie filling
    3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Beat egg whites stiff (add cream of tartar before beating). Add sugar and blend well.
    Add crumbled wafers and nuts (blend, do not beat).
    Pour into well-greased 9 x 13-inch Pyrex dish.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes (do not overbake).
    Allow to cool completely.
    Press down with egg turner.
    Prepare Dream Whip and pour on base.
    Top with cherry pie filling.
    Serves about fourteen.
