Ingredients

1/2 c. lard
1/2 c. molasses
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 tsp. soda
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt and cloves
Preparation

Mix dry ingredients; add milk and molasses to lard and mix. Combine mixtures and mix well.
Pour into a cloth and steam for 2 1/2 hours.
Raisins may be added.
