Hot Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. hot water
    2 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/2 pkg. dry yeast
    5 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
Preparation
    In a mixing bowl put 2 cups warm water; add rest of ingredients (except yeast and flour).
    Dissolve well, add yeast and dissolve.
    Add half of flour and stir until smooth.
    Add rest of flour and mix until real smooth.
    Let dough rest 3 to 5 minutes; then put out on floured board and knead as biscuits lightly.
    Let dough rest 5 minutes longer and put out into greased muffin pans.
    Let rolls rise 1 1/2 to 2 hours and bake in oven 15 to 20 minutes or until done.
    Brush rolls with butter after done.
