Ingredients

2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring
2 1/2 to 3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon (may be added, if desired)
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 c. milk
1/2 to 1 tsp. nutmeg
3 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Beat eggs until very light.
Beat in sugar and add melted shortening.
Sift baking powder, salt and nutmeg with 1 cup flour; stir into first mixture.
Alternate flour to make a very soft dough.
Chill.
Roll out on floured board and cut in shape.
Drop in hot lard.
